52 Week Challenge - Week 45

This week, I finished a pattern for the charms and jellies quilt that I've been working on. The quilt is nearly finished too. Right now, it is in the quilting stage, then binding, and done!

Pattern making has been challenging for me. Figuring out how to do diagrams of the work in progress is a feat. Writing up clear logical directions is a daunting task also. Have any of you made patterns for your work? I would love to hear any tips you can give me.

I am also looking forward to seeing projects that you have finished this week. Please link them below. To read more about the 52 week challenge, click here

  1. Congrats on getting your pattern done...I'm sure it was a lot of work!
I've thought of making instructions for my albums, but haven't found the best way yet!

  2. Congrats that's quite a feat! I enjoy making my own knitting patterns. It is hard to write them out clearly. I'm still working on that!

  3. Wow! How neat. Your very Own Quilt Pattern. Yowhza!Congrats! The few times I've quilted a blanket, I drew out my design on whatever was handy like a scrap discarded Envelope... with my measurements and all scribbled here and there with doodled pictures. Hats off to you!

  4. Wow! That's great! Not an easy project for most...especially me. Love the colors in the quilt.

  5. Probably the most useful tip I can give, when it comes to writing pattern instructions, is to have someone else try to follow them. Barring that, after you have finished writing, set it aside for a few weeks and then come back to it with fresh eyes. The quilt in your photo looks lovely; I wish you good luck in selling the pattern!

  6. I feel your pain...I have been encouraged to write about how to make the dolls I do but know how very hard it is to help someone else do what you do and write it down in a clear, concise way. Judy's advice seems "right on".
