Customer Appreciation

It is always a thrill to see the result of beautiful fabric, time, and sewing skill. Look at a few of the wonderful things  my customers have made with fabric they have purchased from my shop.

Jason Yenter fabric from In the Beginning Fabrics had the starring role in this gorgeous Eclectic Garden quilt by Quiltlover, newly listed in her shop.

This wonderful raspberry batik bag was sewn by a lovely repeat customer of mine who made it  for her daughter.

You can find this batik berry juicy bag in Flapdoodle Bags Etsy shop.  The versatile handle drawn through tabs enable it to be used as a handbag, or extended for a shoulder bag.

Thank you all sew much for sharing your fabulous creations!

Happy Thanksgiving!

To all in the United States - Happy Thanksgiving!

This is my favorite holiday because the expectation is to, first of all, be thankful.  Then anything else that happens, like getting together with family, or eating some yummy food, is an extra blessing.

Of course we all have lots to be thankful for everyday.  How about oxygen, sunshine, life itself!

Still, I am thankful that our country sets aside a day to celebrate being Thankful.

Oooh, Look What's Coming!

I am a big fan of Jason Yenter's designs for In the Beginning Fabrics.  In the past I have carried this line in autumn colors (see my blog header), and now I have it in magenta.  Isn't it stunning?

These fabrics will be listed in my shop over the next couple of days.  Each are available by the yard, or in a bundle of 1/3 yard cuts.  Just think of the possibilities!

Needle Felting

One of the crafts my granddaughter and I have been dabbling in lately is needle felting.  We really enjoy the process and the results.  Last night she made these little star ornaments for her mother.  When they are dry I will punch a hole and she can string a pretty ribbon through for hanging.

Aren't they sweet!

Besides sewing, what crafts do you dabble in?

Heavenly Stitches

Over the weekend, my daughter and I, and a little over 50 other women, attended "Heavenly Stitches" a quilting retreat held at Singing Hills Christian Camp in New Hampshire.

Singing Hills offers plain, but comfortable sleeping accommodations, an endless supply of food, plenty of space for quilting and fellowship, and a sweet little chapel where we sang praises and had daily teachings.  We could not have asked for better weather.  Crisp, sunny days made for excellent walks along the woods, and we cuddled in our sleeping bags for a good night's rest during the cold nights.

My daughter and I were very pleased to finish our projects for the weekend.  I made a baby quilt for a niece who is due this month.  My daughter made quilted Christmas stockings which she will be giving as gifts this holiday season.

Lucinda Secrest McDowell was the speaker for the weekend.  She taught on how God uses the scraps of our lives to piece together a beautiful quilt for His glory.
Lucinda is a wonderful teacher.  She shared stories from her own life as well as other woman's lives, and especially of God's grace. Each sharing ended with her reading a short but meaningful childrens story, and singing  prayer.  I came away encouraged and reminded of how much God loves me.

We came home enriched by the teachings, sweet fellowship, bearing quilted gifts, tired but blessed.

Making a List

Making a list, checking it twice, I'm off to a quilt retreat and don't want to forget anything.

This year I am bringing some pre-cut fabric to sell, so have to remember all the stuff that goes along with that activity as well as personal effects and sewing supplies.

My daughter and I always have a wonderful time at these annual retreats.  We stay up late, get a massage and a make-over, eat too much, go to fellowship (it's at a Christian Camp), and talk, talk, talk.  Oh, and we might get in a little quilting too.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend, whatever you will be doing.

Sheep

I like sheep.  The Bible includes many references to sheep and shepherds, and calls those who follow God His flock.  I like that their coats can be removed, used to make warm and beautiful things, and that then they can grow more.  And who can resist their soft and cuddly appearance.

These sheep were recently featured on the front page of Etsy.  I have included links to the shops if you would like to find out more about them.

A Perfect Sunday

I had so much fun in childrens fellowship this morning.  It was the perfect place for me to be, teaching the Bible, having snack, playing a game, and just generally enjoying the company of children.

Then I got to help clean up after our 1st Sunday of the month luncheon at church.  I manned (womaned?) the sink and washed dishes thick with tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese, while enjoying the camaraderie of the other men and women helping in the clean-up.

Nothing I like better than having a place and purpose on a bright and sunny Sunday in November.

Now off to the sewing room for a bit, then a walk around the neighborhood with my husband, and maybe read some of the Sunday newspaper.  A perfect day.

Happy Sunday ♥

Instant Classic - Dr. Seuss!

These fabrics came in yesterday.  I have been looking forward to seeing them, and am not disappointed.  Who doesn't remember Dr. Seuss fondly from their childhood?

My favorite story of his is Green Eggs and Ham.  What's yours?

Stockings Done!

I've finished the Xmas stockings order finally. Here are just a few of them.

Just in time too.  My daughter and I will be going on a weekend Quilting Adventure in New Hampshire a couple of weeks from now.  We make this trip annually and always have a wonderful time.  The retreat is at a Christian camp and has teachings, music, fellowship, great food, and lots of space to quilt our hearts out.

This year I will be selling fabric, as well quilting.  I know my daughter plans on making Christmas stockings as gifts.  I need to work on a baby quilt for a niece's first baby.  The fabric is all cut out, so hopefully I can complete the quilt over the weekend.

Cotton Solids on Sale Today Only

Yesterday I bought groceries.  Have you noticed that the average item costs $3-4 dollars now?  When did bread start costing over $3?  I used to be able to take a quick average of my final bill by estimating $2 per item, not any more.

To offset that inflation,  I am offering my Kona Cotton and Bella Solids on Sale.  Just think, for around the same cost as a loaf of bread you can get a yard of quality kona cotton, which will last a lot longer.

You can see them here.  Now it's time for tea, and  my English Muffin with honey.

P.S. - The first page only includes 12 fabrics.  You can access all of them through the arrow key at the top right of the page.

Guinea Pig on a Leash

My granddaughter has a pet guinea pig named Chocolate Chip Cookie, or CC for short.  CC has a good sized cage, but still we thought she should be getting more exercise.  So we went looking at Pet Smart for a way to accomplish this and keep her safe and contained at the same time.

They had fences, plastic balls that you put the guinea pig in and tracks to roll them on, and these little vests:

CC mainly just sat in one spot looking confused. Still, a cute idea I think.
