Thankful Sunday

The week of July 4th, my daughter and her family were on vacation in the Adirondacks.

They arrived home to find that a tree (well actually a group of three trees), had fallen on the roof of their home, taking all the power lines down with them.

Since it is a rented house, they had to wait for their out-of-state landlord to call the insurance company, send out an agent, and arrange for the tree to be removed and the power lines restored.

Here's the part I'm thankful for - they are doing just fine!  They are actually having fun getting to know their wonderful neighbors better, figuring out how to cook, and do laundry, and even watch movies with limited electrical use (their neighbors let them plug in to their power) and no cable or computers.  It has been an adventure, and they are richer for it.  Sometimes the hard times are when we see God work the most.

What are you thankful for today?

  1. I think today in our society we have too much and it drowns out so many other things. The simple life isn't so bad, we discover. In fact, we discover the bigger things in life that way I think.

  2. Today I'm thankful that some hard life decisions have been made and I no longer have to spend any time thinking...this way...or that way. God is in control. Thank goodness. blessings, marlene
