Thankful Sunday

Today I am thankful for laughter.

According to Helpguide.org following are some of the benefits of laughter:

Physical Health Benefits:
  • Boosts immunity
  • Lowers stress hormones
  • Decreases pain
  • Relaxes your muscles
  • Prevents heart disease
Mental Health Benefits:
  • Adds joy and zest to life
  • Eases anxiety and fear
  • Relieves stress
  • Improves mood
  • Enhances resilience
Social Benefits:
  • Strengthens relationships
  • Attracts others to us
  • Enhances teamwork
  • Helps defuse conflict
  • Promotes group bonding
God says:
A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance (Proverbs 15:13)
He that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast. (Proverbs 15:15)
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine (Proverbs 17:22)

One of the things that make me laugh are things that children say.  Recently when my daughter told my granddaughter that she loved her to the moon and back, my four year old granddaughter responded that she loved her mom to the front and back.  Another day the same granddaughter explained that she was being especially quiet because her mom was a light sleeper, but that she (herself) slept darker.

What makes you laugh?

  2. Cute. I love kids' sayings. Ever since my daughter was little, I have assumed hippos are named Thomas because that is how she pronounced hippopotamus -- HippoThomas.

  3. My 9yr old son and 3 yr old grandson were playing outside today under an oak tree. A squirrel was scampering about in it and knocking acorns down on them. My grandson said, "That squirrel was throwin' coconuts at us!" lol
