52 Week Challenge - Week 10

My daughter and I spent the weekend working on some UFO quilts for her teen twin stepdaughters.  The girls designed these quilts a couple of years ago, and even helped in the initial cutting and sewing of the blocks.  But it has been one of those projects that seemed to drag on and on.  I still don't have the finished quilts to show, but we are making progress.

I did finish these place mats early this week, and have them listed in my quilt shop.

Set of four - fabric from the Camelot Collection by Jason Yenter
Quilting them was especially fun.  I started out with a design by Leah Day, which I used on two of the mats.  Then I altered the design to match the floral pattern in the fabric, and completed the other two mats.
The mat in the lower right and upper left are Leah's design.  The leaf stems in the other two are altered slightly.
I can't wait to see what you have been working on this week.

Let's get busy,

  1. Very nice. What kind of quilting machine do you have?

  2. I just have my little Janome regular sewing machine. A quilting machine is a dream right now. I want one of the sit down table types because we don't really have the room to dedicate to one of the big ones.

  4. Beautiful quilting! I'm not a quilter, I've made a few baby blankets, but nothing major. My girls are getting into it though!

  8. Beautiful colors and fabric design. I love blue and white! The quilting design is fabulous. I still hand quilt...I'm afraid I'll mess up with the machine!

I'm working on a new project and blogged about it today!

  10. Your unfinished quilt UFOs remind me so much of some quilts I intended to make from 2 quilt block exchanges in which I participated. I'm not even sure where the quilt blocks are now; they never made it into a single quilt, I'm sorry to say! I hope you eventually do finish the quilts you described in the beginning of your post. It sounds like you made good progress this week, even if you didn't finish them. I do love the place mats you finished, though--beautiful colors and quilting!
