I used to treat myself to one Quilting Magazine subscription per year. When the year was over, I could choose a different magazine for the following year. At that time, it seemed that there were only a handful of magazines to choose from.
But now, there is a plethora of new issues to choose from each month. When I go into the grocery store, or my local Joanne's, I almost always stop by the magazine rack and see if there is anything new. And usually I walk out with at least one. This addiction can get expensive!
I suppose I could go back to buying a subscription of one or two magazines a year, it would be more cost effective that way. But I have a suspicion that I would still be stopping by that magazine rack searching for the latest quilt designs and fabrics.
Anyone else have this obsession?
Maybe we could start a Quilter's Anonymous chapter.
You bet! I have that same obsession. Either a subscription or a stop at the magazine rack is always a plus for me. I think I know must have a subscription to everyone out and I make sure that I get all those special editions when they hit the racks. I think I will join you in that Quilter's Anonymous Chapter!!
ReplyDeleteI have several faves among the quilting mags. I LOVE Quilt Mania which is from France. I get them at Barnes & Noble. Costs $12 an issue/every other month, but I lovingly savor each page. I also like Quilter's Home, and recently won a year of Fons and Porters at a local quilt show. I try to alternate issues each month. But I look at them as necessary for my inspiration! And I would gladly join in Quilter's Anonymous. Or should it be "Quilters Gone Wild"?
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear I am not alone in this, lol.
ReplyDeleteI do, I do, I have a magazine obsession too! And you're right, there are so many out there right now!! Not just quilting, but many other arts and crafts, too.
