52 Week Challenge - Week 17

Another non-crafty project finished for me this week - my sewing/craft room reorganization.  It started with needing a filing cabinet for all the business paperwork that accumulates from selling online.  My husband spent hours putting it together (it was basically just cut wood and hardware in a box) and then we cleared everything out of the room to fit it in.  One table had to go, but I actually ended up with a larger sewing space, and a larger cutting table.

Now everything is nicely tucked away, and I can enjoy the order and cleanliness of it all before my crafting/sewing mess takes over again. During this process, I was reminded of how much S-T-U-F-F I have.  (I am a craft hoarder)

What have you finished this week?  Please share a link and leave a comment.

Spring Fever

Today was the day.

You know, the day when suddenly summer blasts in for a surprise visit, a teasing taste of what is to come.

When everyone you meet is talking about how beautiful it is outside, windows are opened, flip flops come out, summer dresses make their first appearance of the season, and the neighborhood is out taking a walk.

Yesterday it was in the 50's.

Today it is in the 80's.

We may get snow tomorrow, (not unheard of in April in New York) but today Spring Fever is in full bloom.

Happy Spring!

Monday Morning Nostalgia

Monday Monday, so good to me,
Monday Monday, it was all I hoped it would be
Oh Monday morning, Monday morning couldn't guarantee
That Monday evening you would still be here with me.

Monday Monday, can't trust that day,
Monday Monday, sometimes it just turns out that way
Oh Monday morning, you gave me no warning of what was to be
Oh Monday Monday, how yould cou leave and not take me.

Every other day, every other day,
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes
You can find me cryin' all of the time

Monday Monday, so good to me,
Monday Monday, it was all I hoped it would be
Oh Monday morning, Monday morning couldn't guarantee
That Monday evening you would still be here with me.

Every other day, every other day,
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes
You can find me cryin' all of the time

Monday Monday, ...

Watch a video of the group playing it.

1966 song written by John Phillips and recorded by The Mamas and the Papas for their 1966 album If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears. It was the group's only number one hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
On March 2, 1967, The Mamas and the Papas won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for this song.

I Have Been Shopping

Yes, I have been shopping, for new fabrics, and supplies, from a number of distributors.  And it has been Fun!
Today, the supply order came in.  Pictured are a few of the items that will soon be available in my shop.  I am especially excited about the 1/2" Amazing Tape, which is what I use to make the thread tamers I sell, and sometimes give as gifts with orders.  If you have lots of thread, you can now buy a roll of the tape and make your own thread tamers.  This tape has many other uses too.

Over these next few weeks I will also be getting in fabrics from Anthology, Moda, In the Beginning, and Robert Kaufman.

By the way, if you have a favorite fabric or crafting tool that you don't see in my shop, contact me either by email, or through my shop.  I may be able to get it for you.

52 Week Challenge - Week 16

Never again.  That's what I swore after last weekend's marathon to finish our taxes before the deadline on April 18th.  So, taxes are my finished project for the week.  A needful and boring task, which, now that it is complete, is a huge weight off my shoulders.
Our dining room table late Sunday night

Do you have a task that you hate to do, procrastinate terribly about, and then, when your back is against the deadline, finally finish to your great relief? I would love to hear about it.

Let's get busy,

P.S. - Please post a link to a project you have completed this week.  I hope it was one you enjoyed more than I enjoyed mine.  It would also be welcome if you clicked on each others links, and left a comment or heart behind.

52 Week Challenge - Week 15

Spring is upon us (my favorite season), and Summer is just around the corner with all its distractions.

This week I used a selvage jelly roll that I had received as a gift from a fellow quilter to make a set of placemats.  I would not normally choose this fabric line, but I must say that I like the way they turned out.  It is good to try something outside your usual parameters now and then don't you think?

French Provincial Selvage

I've called them French Provincial Selvage placemats, and they are for sale in my kimbuktu shop.

I would love to see a project you've finished this week. You can link it below to your shop, blog, facebook, or flickr account. This linky will stay open until next Tuesday at 11:59 p.m.

Customer Appreciation

Look at what one of my customers made recently with some of the fabric she purchased from my shop.

custom-made agenda
She used fabric from the  Tweet Collection by Wendy Bentley to make this agenda for a friend.

I am always amazed at the many different  and wonderful ways a piece of fabric can be used.

What's That I Spy....

The signs of Spring!
Peeking out from under the dead overwintered leaves are my strawberry plants.  They've come back for another summer.  I hope to get lots of berries from them, if the birds don't beat me to it.

The last of the snow is gone from my yard.  Lots of work is ahead tending to the exuberant life about to explode all around. Barefoot, sleeveless, swimming, walking the neighborhood, eating peas fresh from the garden, long days of sunshine, and perfect temperatures.

My favorite season has begun!

52 Week Challenge - Week 14

This week I raided my UFO bin (a huge plastic lidded container) and pulled out a quilted bag I had started over a year ago.  The quilting was all done.  I just had to put it together with beading, a header, lining, and drawstring closure.

The fabric is by Kaffe Fassett (love his work) and is called Millifiore.  My granddaughter helped me decide on the beading.  It adds a nice bling, don't you think.

What have you been up to this week?  Leave a link below, I would love to see.

March Round Up

Perseverance is not a long race;
it is many short races one after another.
Walter Elliot, The Spiritual Life

Three months, 13 weeks, 32 projects finished.  Congratulations to us all!

Here's the Round Up this month.  I realized recently that I had left links off  in the February's Round Up.  I apologize.  This month, your projects will link to your blog, or shop, wherever you normally link up from.

Here are the projects we've finished this month:

A new month is starting up.  Anyone is welcome to join the challenge.  Just add your link to weekly list, which is posted every Wednesday.

Coming in April

Look for vibrant new fabrics by Kathy Deggendorfer for In the Beginning coming to my shop this month.  The My Sunshine collection is made up of a flower garden focal fabric in several colorways, and rich sun soaked supporting fabrics. I've included a few of the fabrics here.

The quilt pictured is made from some of these fabrics in a style reminiscent of a Log Cabin but with a modern twist.

I can hardly wait to get my hands on these beautiful fabrics.
